Assembling the Explorer system

19" Explorer Teleprompter

17" Explorer Teleprompter

  1. Adjust the vertical position of the prompter before assembly

The prompter assembly can be raised or lowered to suit the height of the camera lens. (The lens should be as close to centred in the hood as possible).

    1. Measure from the base of the camera too the centre of the lens. Set the graduated plate to the same measurements, for example if the centre lens to base height is 55 mm then set the graduated plate to 55 mm. First release the height adjustment lever by turning anti clockwise.

    2. Raise or lower the assembly to suit the camera lens setup. When the required height is achieved tighten the lock lever firmly to secure the setup.

  1. Attach the camera plate to the monitor rail.

    1. Use the two camera plate screws to attach the plate to the rail and tighten firmly.

Before attempting to install or adjust the prompter assembly, the tilt axis of the head support must be securely locked.

  1. Fit the monitor to the rail and the fluid head

    1. Follow the instructions for the fluid head being used to lock the tilt on the head and attach the camera plate.

    2. Lay the monitor face down on a flat surface (use a towel or similar to protect the screen).

    3. Align the mounting holes with the 4 x captive thumbscrews on the bracket and turn clockwise to secure. Do not over tighten.

  1. Attach the monitor and rail to the mounting bracket

    1. Offer the assembly to the rail mount and twist slightly clockwise to align the key-ways with the screws on the rail bracket.

    2. With the fixed screws inserted in the keyholes twist the monitor assemble slightly anticlockwise and allow the bracket to drop into location.

    3. With the monitor assembly in place tighten the thumbscrews x 2 to lock the monitor assembly in place.

  1. Refer to your fluid head user guide for mounting accessories to the head and attach the monitor spine to the head.

  1. Add the hood to the assembly.

    1. Offer up the hood assembly to the rail mount fixings, and place the key-ways over the fixings and lower into place. To fit the glass to the hood see Removal and Fitting of Reflective Glass Panel for Replacement or Cleaning

  1. Fit the carriage to the camera and secure with the two supplied screws.

  1. Slide the camera and carriage onto the rear spine of the prompter assembly.

The correct orientation for the carriage is when you can slide it onto the rail without having to depress the stop button located on the end of the rail.

  1. Slide the camera lens through the hood aperture, the lens should be as close to the prompter glass as possible. Lock the carriage in position.
